The Proposed New York County Committee Rules

The proposed New York County Proposed rules.

Why must the County Leader be a District Leader?

The County Leader ought to be someone who has been elected by constituents larger than an ED. There is something very different about representing an AD or Senate District or part of an AD. You have to learn about the needs of and activities within your community, you need to interact with other elected officials, and your service (especially in Manhattan) has been approved of by voters (which is often not true of CC members). Perhaps it should be expanded to include anyone elected to a public office which is wholly within NY County.

Another rule is that the District Leader appointment for a vacancy must be a member that lives in the ED in question. The representation must be geographic.
